Barcelona has announced its candidature for the 2022 Winter Olympics Games and everybody here is making fun of this, since it almost never snows in Barcelona. Or, perhaps, Barcelona’s mayor knows something that has eluded Al Gore so far, called global cooling, because if the median temperature doesn’t drop greatly in the next 12 years, I don’t see how the Winter Olympics can be held in Barcelona. It’s a very warm city (in the winter)!

But, they don’t want to have the whole Olympic Games in Barcelona. Just the indoor sports, like skating, hockey and whatever else they play during the olympics. And the outdoor activities will be held in the Pyrenees, just 200 km off Barcelona. That makes (some) sense. Just like they did with Turin and the Alps. “So if Turin pulled it off, why can’t Barcelona do the same?”, mr. Jordi Hereu said to himself. We shall see…
